Automaticity: Explaining the Declining Value of Corporate Disclosures

In this KPMG survey, a significant majority of respondents (corporate filers) say that once a disclosure is included in a public filing in response to an SEC request, it is rarely/never omitted from future filings. Conclusion: Copy-and-paste disclosures do not foster transparency, and seat-of-the-pants investment analysis — unaided by technology or visual imagery — can no longer map the distribution of risks and relative strengths across industries and peer groups.
