Life’s Final Exam

When you free yourself from the fear of death, you free yourself from all fear. This central message of the Bhagavad Gita — memorably summarized in this lecture: “Life’s Final Exam” (Talks at Google) — resonates powerfully today as our anguished civilization convulses through bone-breaking denials of our mortality. Only people, nations and ideological factions deeply fearful of death can perpetrate mindless violence. That’s also a central message of The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker, briefly summarized in Memento Mori: The Quest for Immortality.
